The Gordon Institute Background

The Gordon Institute for Archeology and Paranormal Study was founded in the early 20th Century (the precise date is not publicly known) through a generous grant from an anonymous benefactor who gave the Institute its name, the property on which its campus is located, and a financial endowment more than adequate to carry out his mandate for the organization for generations to come.  That mandate is to investigate life’s mysteries through the archeological study of its historical past and to pursue those mysteries which seem beyond the realms of accepted science, history, and religion through the study of the paranormal.  To accomplish these ends, the Institute has gathered a faculty of noted scholars, technicians, and explorers whose task it is to train future generations of Institute members and to carry out practical field work wherever that may intellectually and geographically take them. When needed, the Institute brings to its staff adjunct professors with rare specializations in skills of a more non-traditional nature.

Because the Institute is often working on the fringes of what is known and/or accepted in fields of study and areas of the planet that are not commonly recognized or understood, their work is often done out of the public eye.  They maintain comprehensive records of their work, with thorough documentation of their discoveries, and through that work seek to enhance the common good.  Nonetheless, they understand that because their work is not widely understood and their fields of study are not widely accepted as being within the bounds of accepted scholarship and study, the Institute believes it is better that knowledge of their work be held secret until it is deemed to have achieved a level of objective evidence that will allow it to be embraced by the academic and scientific community at large.  Because of the secrecy that surrounds the Institute’s work, its benefactor’s grant has insisted upon and provided for the financing of a trained and well-armed security team to guard the campus, its research stations, and its expeditions throughout the world.  The campus itself is a treasure house of priceless ancient and mystical artifacts gathered from around the world and as such remains under round-the-clock armed guard.

This basic background information on the origin and purpose of the Gordon Institute for Archeology and Paranormal Study has been provided so that guests of this site may better understand the records (written and photographic) that have been provided here of the Institute’s research and expeditions.
